Prot Jarnuszkiewicz (b. 1977 in Warsaw)

 

Professor of arts, visual artist, photographer, lighting designer, and educator.

He studied at the Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź, at the Faculty of Cinematography and Television Production, majoring in Film, Television and Photography Image Production (full-time studies). He was taught by, among others, Prof. Ewa Braun, Prof. Mieczysław Jahoda, Prof. Andrzej Jaroszewicz, Prof. Witold Sobociński, and Prof. Jerzy Wójcik.

He holds the title of Full Professor of Fine Arts.

From 2016 to 2020, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Media Arts, and from 2020 to 2024, as Vice-Rector for External Relations and Promotion at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.

He currently leads the Visual Relations Studio, whose graduates have four times been awarded the title of Best Diploma of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw as well as Best Artistic Diploma among all Polish Academies of Fine Arts.

He is also a lecturer at the Warsaw Film School, where he runs a diploma studio in Photographic Narration.

For his contributions to the academic and educational development of the Academy, he has been honored five times with the Rector’s Award, including the highest distinction – the Pegasus Award.

His creative work unfolds along two main lines:

1. Artistic photography and video art


Parallel to developing his teaching practice, he has consistently pursued an active artistic career. He has created numerous original photographic projects, among the most significant of which are Family Portrait, The Persistence of Space, Absence, Hommage to Piotr Łazarkiewicz, Perfectly Happy People, For a Moment I Had Everything, and In the Meantime.

He has organized dozens of exhibitions in Poland and abroad.

He is the author of numerous publications, including three monographs, such as Past and Present (2015) and For a Moment I Had Everything (2020).

His works are held in dozens of private collections and museums in Poland and abroad.

2. Lighting and video direction for theatre productions


Since 2007, he has collaborated with such theatres as TR Warszawa, the National Opera, and the National Theatre in Warsaw, the New Theatre in Poznań, and the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków. Over more than a decade of work in this field, he has created nearly 70 lighting designs, working with directors including Izabela Cywińska, Grzegorz Bral, Zbigniew Brzoza, Andrzej Domalik, Robert Drobniuch, Natalia Korczakowska, and Bogusław Linda.

From 2017 to 2018, he was a member of the expert team for the evaluation of research project results at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

Since 2019, he has served as an expert of the Polish Accreditation Committee.

For his contributions to Polish culture, he has been awarded the Bronze and Silver Gloria Artis Medals.
